Ashland, Ore - The Eastern Oregon University (19-2, 7-9 CCC) softball team split with Southern Oregon University. (12-26, 7-9 CCC) EOU make a come back in the second game of the double header to win a close one 3-2. The Mounties won a very close game one 2-3.
EOU actually had a very good chance to win both games on the road. Up 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning The Mountaineers gave up two runs.
In the first game senior Meghan Henderson went 2-4 with a run scored while juniors Lydia Holm and Michelle St. John collected the two RBI.
In the second game EOU played the spoiler. Down 2-0 in the 6th inning, the Eastern offense got to work scoring the three runs it would need to get the win and the split.
Freshman Iris Woodhead and junior Teri Cisler each went 2-3 in the game with an RBI. Junior Venessa Wood was responsible for bringing in the other run. Fellow junior, Kelly West collected the win, pitching five and a third innings. West gave up eight hits but allowed only the two runs.
The Mounties will travel to Klamath Falls to face the #13 team in the country, in OIT.
