La Grande, Ore – With the Mounties tied with the Crusaders (2-2) in the bottom of the 7th inning, sophomore Jessica Snyder stepped into the batters box as a pinch hitter and singled to bring the winning run to the plate. Two batters later senior Meghan Henderson hit a game ending, two run homer over the fence in left-center field.
Henderson’s long ball gave Eastern the win over The NCAA Division II Northwest Nazarene Crusaders in the first game of the double header (4-2) and gave The Mountaineers momentum for the second game.
EOU used that momentum to defeat NNU 5-2 in the second game. The two wins brought Eastern to .500, having lost its first two games against NCAA Division I Idaho State.
In the second game Megan Henderson shined again going 1-2 with a sacrifice, a walk and two RBI. Terri Cisler took a shut out into the 6th inning and Kelly West came in to shut things down in the 7th. Cisler also doubled, walked, was hit by a pitch and recorded an RBI.
The Mountaineers will travel to Caldwell, Idaho on Saturday to face The University of Great Falls. Game time is set for 11:00am MT.
