KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Things could not be going better for the Eastern Oregon University Men's and Women's Basketball teams. And the rest of the Country is beginning to take notice.
The Men (12-1, 5-0 CCC) are riding a seven game winning streak and sit alone in first place in the Cascade Conference now they also hold the 3rd spot in the NAIA National Coaches' Poll. The Women (11-1, 5-0 CCC) also find themselves atop the Cascade Conference standings have now reached 19th in the country.
The Mountie Men continue to break new ground in the national poll. This season the team has held the three highest national rankings in school history. After debuting at 18 in the preseason poll, the team who was 4-22 just seasons ago shot to 9th on December 5th, then 6th on December 12th and now 3rd. The previous high was 17th last season, no other Mountie Men's team has cracked the top 20.
The Women's accent has been more gradual. The preseason rankings had EOU just outside of the top 25 but receiving votes. On December 5th they managed to break into the poll at 23 before moving up a spot to 22nd on December 12th. Now Eastern has landed at 19 tied with Aquinas College.
