BUTTE, Mont. - The Eastern Oregon University men's basketball team continued its great start to the 2007-2008 campaign by beating Montana Tech 77-67 in Butte, Montana. The win is the third consecutive for the Mounties to start this season.
Junior Neil Fryer led all scorers with 20 points. Fryer went 8-9 from the field, including 3-4 from 3 point land. The Bremerton, Washington native did all of that in just 22 minutes of play as the talent deep Mounies once again spread the minutes evenly throughout the 9 players that got into the game.
Jeremy Templeton scored 13 points and passed out 4 assists while Mark Carollo and Kyle Janke chipped in with 12 a piece. Carollo and newcomer Steve Sawyers led EOU in the rebound department with 5 each.
Eastern shot 52 percent from the field and held the Orediggers to 41 percent.
Next up for EOU is the 9th Annual Quinn Classic. Montana Tech, Montana Western and The College of Idaho will all be in town to participate. The action kicks off Friday at 6:00 when C of I plays UM-Western. The Mountaineers will face The Orediggers at 8:00.
