Flanagan, Akers and Morscheck Honored at Conference Level

12.6.07

BILLINGS, Mont. - Juniors, Shawn Flanagan and Travis Morscheck along with sophomore Thomas Akers were honored by the Frontier Conference as All-Conference performers.

Flanagan, an Offensive Lineman who transferred from The University of Oregon was named to the 1st Team All-Conference offensive unit after dominating the line of scrimmage all season long.  The 6'5, 300 pound big man from Pendleton reminded Eastern fans of former Mountie All-American Lineman Shea Little.

Morscheck, who was the backbone of the Mountaineer rushing attack tallying 643 yards, made the 2nd team.  The Pullman, Washington native played in all 11 games averaging 58 yards per contest.  His total of 643 included a season high 125 against then #21 Montana Western on Homecoming weekend.

5'11, 225 pound kicker Thomas Akers made 72% (16-22) of his field goal attempts, including an amazing 3-4 in the 40-49 yard range.  Akers also doubled as the teams punter averaging 40 yards per attempt, with a long of 61.  18 times he kept Mountie opponents inside the 20 yard line.

With just four graduating seniors Eastern will look to improve on a tough 2007.
