21-0: The final quarter score in favor of 16th-ranked Montana State- Northern.
That stat sticks out more than any other in Saturday's loss to the Lights. Eastern played three great quarters of a four quarter game.
Eastern led in some offensive and defensive categories. The Mountaineers led at the half, 13-7, and had the lead from 6:30 minutes to go in the second quarter until just under eight minutes left in the fourth quarter.
Terrance Pharr led the EOU defense with 11 tackles, but the Lights gained 298 yards total on the ground. The Eastern passing defense was impressive only allowing 30 yards in the air.
Bradley Padayao completed seven of 13 passes for 87 yards. Travis Morscheck finished with 80 yards rushing and 20 yards receiving.
Northern's Don Saisbury set a new school record with an 84 yard punt. He finished with a total of 247 yards on five punts. Saisbury was named the Special Teams player of the week for the Frontier Conference.
EOU drops to 0-5 in Frontier conference play and 0-6 overall. MSU-Northern moves to 3-2 in the conference and 4-2 overall. The Lights also moved up two spots in the national ranking to 14 after the victory.
The Mountaineers will come home to face Montana-Western this Saturday for EOU's Homecoming Game. Western comes into the game ranked 21st in the NAIA. The Bulldogs also come off a 45-30 win over Rocky Mountain College.
The Eastern defense will have to contain Montana-Western's Derek Pluff, who rushed for a new school record 217 yards in the RMC victory.
Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM at La Grande's Community Stadium.
