Early this morning the Eastern Oregon University men’s basketball team and some followers left the Boise airport on their long trip to Costa Rica.
The team will arrive in San Jose, Costa Rica this evening and begin play tomorrow. The team will spend eight days and seven nights in Central America, playing four games against international competition.
Eastern will get a taste of the surrounding area with a whitewater and canopy trip in the itinerary.
“This trip will give us a chance to work together for two weeks this summer in preparation for the upcoming season. It will also give the individuals on our team an opportunity to experience a different culture. I’m excited that our student athletes will get to do something as part of our basketball program that they will remember for the rest of their lives,” said Coach Ryan Looney on the trip.
EOU will look to build on the success of last year. The team returns 11 players from their 23-8 school-record season, which included a trip to the conference tournament championship game.
