Mountie Men Survive Scare from Whitman Missionaries

12.05.06

As if following the script written by the Mountie Women in the first game of the night, the Mountie Men came from behind and defeated Whitman College 86-77 in overtime.  Only in this game the deficit was as big as 13 points and was still at 11 with just 5:36 left in regulation.

The Eastern Men seemed to be suffering from the same things that were ailing the women.  They were tired.  Not to be confused with being out of shape.  They were tired no doubt from long nights of homework and studying for finals, which are currently taking place for all students at EOU.

Somehow sophomore point guard Jeremy Templeton managed to turn in one of his finest all-around games as a Mountie.  The Spokane native scored 15 points, had 7 assists and a career high 7 rebounds.  It was Templeton along with fellow sophomore Tanner McIntosh and senior Derek Brown who did most of their damage when the team was trying to climb out of a double digit hole with very little time to go in regulation.  McIntosh finished with 14 points while Brown had 15 and was a perfect 5-5 from the field, all of which came after half-time.

The Mountaineers will return to action on December 19th when they travel to Salem to face Corban College in a conference match up.  Tip off is set for 7:30pm.
