In a game Eastern led for much of the time, an extra period was still needed for EOU to secure their ninth straight victory, 66-62, over Warner Pacific (2-9) (0-3).
The Mountaineers led 56-48 with five minutes to play, but after a 10-2 run by Warner Pacific, an overtime period would follow. In the OT, WPC took a three point lead a minute into extra session and held the lead until the 40 second mark when EOU hit two free throws to take a one point advantage. The Mountaineers held on for the 66-62 win.
In the first half EOU jumped out to a 13 point lead just seven minutes in to the game when the Knights made their first comeback of the game, outscoring the Mountaineers 18-5 over the next six and half minutes tying the game for the first time with 6:35 remaing in the half. EOU then put on a 14-4 run of their own to take a 36-26 advantage into the break.
Eastern Oregon held the lead throughout the second half until the 32 second mark when Lindsey Wells tied things up hitting the backend of two free throws. EOU had the balance of time to break the tie but couldn't convert sending things to OT.
EOU was led by the 19 points and 8 rebounds of Sheena Henderson. Warner Pacific's Danica Wilson led all scorers with 20 and added 5 rebounds. Meghan Ainsworth added 18 points and 5 rebounds.
The Mountaineers will travel Kailua, Hawaii for their next game against NAIA division one Vanguard (6-1) (3-0) of California. Vanguard enters the game as the second ranked team in the nation.
