Golden Eagles Outshine Eastern Men

With 8:33 remaining in the game Pat Mattson made a shot from near half-court as the shot clock expired, and that was the kind of night it was for the Eastern Oregon University men's team. Northwest University ended the Mountaineers eight game win streak in front of a near sell-out crowd in La Grande's Quinn Coliseum, 78-75.

The Eagles upset of the third-ranked Eastern men was fueled by Mattson's 20 points. NU played very well in one of the toughest places to play in the Cascade Conference.

EOU outscored NU 44-18 in the paint, but the Eagles made ten three-pointers compared to Eastern's five.

Eastern was led by Paul Carollo's 16 points, Mark Carollo added 15 points, and Jeremy Templeton also had 12 points.

EOU will return to the court Tuesday evening and host the College of Idaho (7-9, 4-2 CCC).
