Junior point guard Whitney Leman had and incredible night, dishing out an astounding 14 assists in the game. Maybe more impressive was that while she was handing out all of those assists she managed to turn it over just once. The 14 assists in a single game breaks the all-time record of 12 held by Trisha Haddock.
Many of Leman’s assists came by getting the ball to the red hot Christie Weaver. The senior scored 29 points on 10-19 shooting and hauled in 9 rebounds. A whopping 8 of her 10 field goals were from behind the arc. The school record for 3 pointers made in a single game is 10 held by none other than Weaver, who set the mark last season against Montana Tech.
Concordia came out and played a 2-3 zone the entire game and the Mountaineers were patient and moved the ball very well. Of the 27 total field goals scored by Eastern a very impressive 21 were assisted.
Liz Brice was in the starting line-up for the second consecutive night and played well scoring 11 points and grabbing 4 rebounds. Meanwhile, Tiffanie Ulmer was 5 of 6 from the field scoring 10 points. Sheena Henderson and Elise Hawes scored 7 and 6 points respectively and each pulled down 5 rebounds. Concordia was led by Denise Benedict and Angie Woolhiser who scored 14 a piece for the Cavs.
Eastern will enjoy some much needed time off for Christmas before returning to La Grande next week. The Mounties will face Northwest University and The Evergreen State College on the 29th and 30th at Quinn Coliseum. Both games are set to start at 5:30pm and the athletic department is offering ½ price admission for both games.
