The Mounties started the game on a 13-0 run only to give that lead up and find themselves down five to Cascade Conference foe Evergreen with 4:30 left in the game. However, over the last few minutes EOU (16-5) outscored TESC (4-17) by 13 to win 68-60 in Olympia.
Tiffanie Ulmer had her best game as a Mountaineer, scoring a career-high 32 points and pulling down 9 rebounds in 34 minutes of action. The junior forward was impressive from the start doing much of her damage around the basket. Ulmer also stepped her game outside where she made several perimeter shots including both of her three point attempts.
According to coach Anji Weissenfluh Ulmer plays her best when her teammates need her the most, "When the game is on the line that is when Tiffanie is at her best. She gives us a go to person and she was awesome tonight throughout."
Helping Ulmer out in the scoring department was senior Christie Weaver. The 5'10 wing scored 20 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, 14 of those points came in the second half. Many of which were in the final minutes while Eastern was surging from behind.
With those 20 points Weaver moved into 3rd place on the EOU's All-Time scoring list surpassing former teammate Jamie Jo Cant. Weaver now has 1,353 point in her illustrious career at Eastern.
The Geoducks were led by Jennifer Solberg's 18 points on 7-15 shooting form the field.
Eastern will square off against Northwest University Saturday night in Kirkland for another important league contest. The game is set to start at 5:30pm.
