Lucas Ohmes and Chris Hoppie wrapped up the two day heptathlon competition in Nampa in good shape, both putting up marks that should easily qualify them for the NAIA Indoor National Championship Meet in Johnson City, TN, March 6-8, 2008.
Lucas Ohmes: Ohmes wrapped up the competition with a final score of 4524 points. Last year Ohmes scored 4427 points in this same competition to qualify for the NAIA National Meet.
His second day marks were as follows:
60meter High Hurdles: 8.96, Pole Vault: 13'3 ½", 1,000 meter run: 2:58.26 (8.5 seconds faster than he ran in this meet last year).
Chris Hoppie: Hoppie continued to have a strong meet, winning the last event of the competition (the 1,000 meter run). Hoppie topped all NAIA competitors in this competition and may end up leading the NAIA in the heptathlon after this weekend.
His marks for Day two were as follows:
60 hurdles: 8.61, Pole Vault: 12' 3 ½", 1,000 meter run: 2:43.61 for a school record total of 5026 points.
