La Grande Ore. It was a hotly contested game with both teams seemingly having a chance to come away with a victory. That is, until the Mountaineers put on a late charge which allowed them to pull away and win 67-49 against a pesky Warner Pacific (9-16, 4-10) team. The win was their 20th win of the season.
Christie Weaver once again led EOU (20-5, 12-3) in scoring with 18 points. Weaver also added 7 rebounds. Tiffanie Ulmer turned in double-double scoring 12 points and pulling down 11 rebounds in 26 minutes. Sheena Henderson was the only other player in double figures with 11. She also had 6 boards.
At the point guard position Whitney Leman played well dishing out 9 assists without turning it over once. Leman, a junior from Alaska also grabbed 5 rebounds.
Two Warner Pacific players turned in fined performances of their own. Nichole Brown dropped a game high 26 on the Mounties. However, it did take 24 attempts to get there. Bethany Boumann from WPC was also a force, pulling 15 rebounds.
Eastern will travel to Southern Oregon and OIT next weekend for what is shaping up to be the biggest road trip of the season. What happens on that trip could determine the balance of power in the Cascade Conference.
