Eastern Raises Win Total, Awareness All at Once

La Grande Ore.  With coaches wearing red t-shirts and players donning red ribbons in their hair to draw attention to heart disease and cancer research, the Mountie Women dominate conference foe Cascade College 69-47.

 

Christie Weaver got the Mountaineers (19-5, 11-3) off to a great start scoring 10 of the games first 12 points in route to a game high 21, all of which came before halftime. She added 8 rebounds and 4 assists in 25 minutes of action.  Sheena Henderson came off the bench to score 16 points in just 15 minutes. 

 

Eastern led Cascade (2-19, 1-12) 43-19 at the half and played about even after the break.  EOU played 11 players quality minutes, all of which scored in the contest except Laura Gyllenburg who was content with getting her teammates involved and did not attempt a shot.

 

The Mounties did a terrific job sharing the ball offensively dishing out 20 assists on their 27 made field goals.  EOU also dominated defensively holding The Thunderbirds to 38% shooting, allowing just 29% before the intermission.

 

The Mountaineers will be in search of their 20th win of the season when they face Warner Pacific Saturday night in Quinn Coliseum.  The game is scheduled for 5:30pm.
