La Grande Ore. Earlier today senior Christie Weaver was named Cascade Conference Player of the year. The senior averaged a15.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per contest this season for the Mounties.
More importantly, Weaver was the catalyst on a Mountaineer team that won a regular season conference co-championship.
This season she is 3rd in the nation in made three pointers with 97. She also ranks 7th in the country in three point percentage.
For her career, the La Grande native has scored over 1,500 points and ranks 3rd on Easterns all-time scoring list. She has also taken and made more 3 pointers than anyone in school history.
Two more Eastern players were received conference honors. Junior point guard Whitney Leman and her classmate Tiffanie Ulmer both were tabbed as honorable mention All-Conference performers.
Leman led the conference and ranks 5th in the nation in assists with an average of 5.7. Her steady hand at the point has been a major factor in the Mounties success.
Ulmer is averaging 11.7 points and 6.8 rebounds per contest this season. At 5'9 Tiffanie has been a force both around the basket and with her soft perimeter shooting touch.
Christie Weaver will have a chance to add to her totals this season as the Mountaineers will play in the conference tournament championship game Monday night in La Grande before advancing to the NAIA National Tournament.
