LA GRANDE, Ore. - Sophomore standout Grace Deboodt adds yet another award to what is becoming a long list of collegiate accolades. The most recent of which came Monday when she was named 1st Team All-Cascade Conference for her performance on the Volleyball court.
In just four terms of attendance at Eastern Oregon University the Crook County High School Grad has become the face of Women's Athletics on campus.
Last Fall, as a freshman, Deboodt recieved Honorable Mention All-Conference honors. Then, in the Spring Grace joined the track team and promptly qualified for Nationals in the Java line as well as the 4x100 and 4x400.
Now, in just her second season Deboodt joined 11 other Cascade Conference players on the 1st Team. She was one of only two Sophomores on the list.
The daughter of Tim and Grace Deboodt was the only player in the CCC to average more than 4 Kills per game. The high flyer also finished 12th in the conference in blocks.
On Sunday, Head Coach Kaki McLean found out that the Mounties season was officially over. A committee did not give EOU one of the two at large bids to the Regional Tournament.
Now that Volleyball is out of the way Grace plans to add Basketball to her resume. This season Deboodt will lace 'em up for Anji Weissenfluh and the hoop team before hitting the track in the spring.
