McMINNVILLE, Ore. - After day one in the Heptathlon, 2007 NAIA Heptathlon All-American Kasie Gillespie finds herself on top of a 16 woman field. Gillespie has a narrow lead over a competitor from Oregon Tech.
Kasie is joined by pole vault specialist Cayla Weissert, in her first heptathlon competition. Cayla is sitting in 11th after day one. Cayla is followed closely by Erin Ontko in 12th and Carla Hoppie back in 16th.
Today’s events consisted of the 100 hurdles, High Jump, shot put and the 200. Tuesday’s events are the Long Jump, Javelin and 800.
In the Decathlon, 2008 NAIA Indoor Heptathlon All-American Chris Hoppie is currently sitting in second (out of 17 men) behind a Linfield College competitor and 2007 NAIA Decathlon All-American Lucas Ohmes is currently in 4th after Day one.
Sitting in 7th, in his first ever Decathlon, is freshman Nathan Humphreys.
Today’s events consisted of the 100 meter dash, the Long Jump, shot put, high jump and 400 meter dash. Day two events are the 110 High Hurdles, Discus, Pole Vault, Javelin and 1500 meter runs.
