La Grande, Ore - It was the tale of two games this afternoon at pioneer park.  The Mountie Softball Team (11-12, 3-5 CCC) got off to a great start winning the first game 1-0 behind Lydia Holm's solo homerun in the 4th inning.  Junior Melodee Mildenberger and the EOU defense made sure that run held up, shutting out Oregon Tech (23-5-1, 5-3 CCC).  However, the second game was a different story as the Owls got their offense going scoring 10 runs in a 10-2 victory to give OIT the split.

In the first game Mildenberger pitched all seven innings giving up 4 hits with 7 strike outs.  Holm finished the game 2-3 from the plate.

It was all OIT in the second game.  The Owls scored three runs in each of the first two innings then had another big inning in the fifth when the brought home three more.  Tech added another run in the final inning.

Meghan Henderson managed to score both of EOU's runs in the second game.  Henderson advanced home after Terry Cisler reached on an Tech fielding error in the first.  The senior from La Grande also homered in the 3rd.

Head Coach Missy Wheeler saw the day as a very positive one, "This is a big split for us.  Game one was a terrific game.  Melodee pitched a great game and Meghan did a great job calling the game."

Wheeler went on to say, "We made too many errors in the second game.  We gave them too many outs.  It's not rocket science, we know what we need to do."

Eastern will have to get things fixed quickly as they host a very good Southern Oregon team tomorrow.  Game time is set for 11:00 at Pioneer Park.
