La Grande, Ore - About 17 hours after scoring 21 runs in a sweep of Walla Walla College EOU (18-17) could only muster 5 total runs in their afternoon double header with Northwest Christian (12-20). NCC was able to beat the Mounties 7-2 and 7-3 at Pioneer Park.
This will go in the books as a non-conference match up. However, next season will mark The Beacons first season in the Cascade Conference.
The first game was highlighted by Hannah Kirks solo homerun in the 5th inning. Senior, Stephanie Baumann scored the only other run on sophomore Kimmy Peterson's RBI single in the 2nd.
The Mountaineers led game two by a score of 3-2 going into the 6th inning before giving up 5 runs in the final two frames.
Junior Lydia Holm had a stellar day at the plate going 5-8.
The Mountaineers will try and bounce back on Tuesday at home when they face defending national champs Simon Frasier. The first pitch is set for 1:00pm.
