La Grande, Ore - Score tied and bases loaded in the bottom of the final inning, sophomore Hannah Kirk was hit by a pitch, advancing the runner from third and winning the second game 3-2. The win gave EOU the split, having lost game one to Concordia 4-3.
In the first game junior Lydia Holm collected all three RBI on 2 doubles. The transfer from Chemeketa Community College finished the day 2-6.
Junior Centerfielder Michelle St. John and Senior Catcher Meghan Henderson each finished the day 4-7 for the Mountianeers. Junior Teri Cisler pitched all 7 innings for Eastern collecting the win.
When asked about Hannah Kirk's at bat that won the game for the Mounties Head Coach Missy Wheeler said, "She really took one for the team. She got hit pretty good."
The split brings EOU's record to 16-15 overall, 7-7 in the Cascade Conference. The Mountaineers will play a couple of primetime games on Wednesday against Walla Walla College. Game times are set for 6:00pm and 8:00pm at Pioneer Park.
