La Grande, Ore - In the opening game of the Mounties double header with Corban College Eastern managed to win 4-1 while collecting just 3 hits. EOU recieved some help from the Warriors defense that made some costly errors. However, in the second half of the twin billing Corban came out firing, hitting a homerun in their very first at bat. The Warriors would never look back winning the game 10-6.
Head Coach Missy Wheeler gave credit to the visiting team, "(Corban) did a great job putting the ball in play. " Wheeler went on to say, "We were not in sync offensively today. We had some kids step up and hit some homeruns but could not get enough runners on base."
Senior Meghan Henderson went 4-6 from the plate to lead the Mounties. Lydia Holm, Lindsey Smith and Terri Cisler each hit solo shots in the series.
Melodee Mildenberger got the win for EOU in game 1, Stephanie Baumann earned the save.
Eastern will look to bounce back tomorrow morning against Concordia who lost both games to Albertson today. According to Wheeler tomorrow could be different, "Tomorrow is a new day and I think they'll come out ready to play." Wheeler also said, "The games against Concordia will be important for us."
Come out and support the team at Pioneer Park. Game time is 11:00am.
