LA GRANDE, Ore. - On this sunny Wednesday afternoon, the Mounties split their double header scrimmage against the Warriors of Walla Walla Community College. Eastern jumped out to an early lead in the first game before the Warriors had a few scoring spurts of their own. Led by Sophmore infielder Becky Jones' two homeruns, the Warriors 4-12 lead was out of reach resulting in a first game loss for the Mounties.
The Mounties regrouped for the second game and had some strong performances by several key players in the 8-4 win. Megan Platz went 3-6 on the day knocking two out of the park earning 4 RBIs. Melodee Mildenburger went 2-2 in the second game, one was a double that scored 2 RBIs. Pitching, Kelly West earned the win with 2 strikeouts, 8 hits, 4 runs and 4 walks.
EOU (1-2) will not receive credit for the WWCC win as it was only a scrimmage.
EOU broke ground on their new playing facilities, Peggy Anderson Feild named after Rob Cashell's Athletic Director Predecessor. The new field will be dedicated to her during the non conference game against Walla Walla, on April 20th.
