Eugene, Ore - After losing on the last at bat of the first game of their double header against the Beacons of Northwest Christian in Eugene 1-2, EOU bouced back to take the second game in extra innings 2-0.
Eastern (10-9) led 1-0 when junior Michelle St. John scored in game one of the double header. It looked like that run would hold up but the Mounties gave up 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th and the Beacons 9-19) won the game.
Senior Meghan Henderson went 3-4 from the plate. Junior Lindsey Smith finished 2-3.
In the second game neither team was able to score a run all the way into extra innings. With the score tied 0-0 Eastern managed 2 runs in the 9th inning.
Juniors Kelly West started the game on the mound and pitched seven strong innings not allowing a single run. Classmate Terry Cisler came into the game in the 8th and pitched two terrific innings earning the win for EOU.
The Mountaineers return to conference action on Tuesday when they travel to Caldwell Idaho for a double header against Albertson College. Game one is scheduled to start at 3:00pm MT.
