Vernon Cropper

OLATHE, Kan. - Over 150 men's basketball players from across the country have been named 2007 Daktronics-NAIA Men's Basketball All-American Scholar-Athletes. Student-athletes must be nominated by their head coach, have achieved junior academic status and maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Vernon Cropper was an important part of The Mountaineers season.  A season that was the best in school history.  The Mounties finished with a school record 23-8 and advanced to the conference tournament championship game.

Head Coach Ryan Looney is proud of the work Cropper has done in the classroom, "During the past two years Vernon has truley demonstated what it means to be a student-athlete.  He has set a positive example for our program.  Vernon's leadership has helped us maintain over a 3.0 team grade point average throughout the last two seasons."

Cropper averaged 6 points and 3 rebounds per contest, shooting 54% from the field and 40% from three.  More importantly Vernon has been taking care of business in the classroom, with an EOU cumulative GPA of 3.7.

The Portland native will graduate in the spring and is considering enrolling in the MBA progam and Eastern.
