EOU Women Just Miss top 25, Men Move to 9th

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A road loss at Evergreen State cost the Eastern Oregon University Women their place in the latest NAIA National Coaches Poll while three straight road wins for the Mountie Men helped propel them back into the top 10.

The Women, (23-4, 16-3 CCC) who now sit just one spot outside the top 25, have one game remaining in their schedule.  On Saturday night they will play host to Northwest Christian.  The game will serve as senior night for Whitney Leman, Laura Olson, Elise Hawes, Amanda Matson, Sheena Henderson and Tiffanie Ulmer.

More importantly, a win against the Beacons will give EOU at least a share of the Cascade Conference Championship and secure the # 1 seed the CCC Tournament.

The Men return to the top 10 for the first time since the middle of January. Today EOU found themselves in the 9 spot.  Eastern Men reached their peak on January 9th when they spent a week at #3.

Eastern’s Men (23-4,16-3 CCC) will also recognize their seniors and play for at least a share of the conference crown on Saturday night versus Northwest Christian.

While the Women could find themselves in a tie for 1st with #23 Southern Oregon the Men are in a similar situation with #4 Oregon Tech.

However, a home sweep on Saturday would mean a #1 seed in the conference tournament and an automatic bid in the National Tournament for both the Women and Men because both teams hold the tie breaks over SOU and OIT.
