KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. The 22 ranked Mountianeers (20-7,11-6) seemed to be cruising Saturday night but a couple of missed shots and some timely shooting by the home team allowed #7 OIT (25-3,13-3) to come from 11 down with 9 minutes to go and win 78-69.
Late in the game, with things going well for the Mounties, a Tech player stole the ball and attempted to lay it in. However, junior Mark Carollo came from behind and seemed to block the attempt from behind. The referee charged Carollo with an intentional foul and OIT made two free throws then scored on the possession, changing the momentum of the game.
Senior Derek Brown played well scoring 16 points, making 7 of his 12 shot attempts. The Spokane native added 5 rebounds, a steal and one block.
Sophomore Paul Carollo had a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 12 rebounds while fellow sophomore Tanner McIntosh just missed a double-double of his own scoring 9 points and pulling down 11 boards. Jeremy Templeton and Josh Landsverk scored 10 points a piece.
Eastern Oregon closes the regular season at home next week against Albertson. The game is scheduled to start at 7:30pm. It will be senior night so get there early.
