The game tied at 100 a piece with just 9 seconds to go. Jeremy Templeton received the inbounds pass dribbled the length of the court and was fouled. Templeton, one of four sophomores that started for the Mounties, calmly knocked down both free throws putting Eastern ahead for good. Eastern won the game 104-100 over The Evergreen State College.
On a night where the visiting Geoducks managed to shoot 60% (39-65) from the field and 55% (11-20) from the 3 point line the Mounties connected on an incredible 65% (38-58) from the floor and 66% (6-9) from behind the arc. Maybe most impressively, Eastern missed just 2 of its 24 attempts (91%) from the free throw line. This just one night after they struggled from the charity stripe making a dreadful 44% in a win over Northwest University.
The EOU scoring was balanced again with 6 different players getting into double figures. Mark Carollo and Neil Fryer each had 22 points. Carollo, a junior made 8 his 14 attempts and added 5 rebounds and 2 steals while Fryer was a perfect 8-8 from the field and 5 for 5 from the free throw line.
Tanner McIntosh had another strong performance scoring 18 points, dishing out 4 assists and grabbing 3 rebounds. Paul Carollo and Jeremy Templeton had 14 points each while Derek Brown tossed in 12. Templeton, whose free throws put the Mountaineers ahead in the end, added 11 assists while committing just 1 turnover. Senior Adam Moore led Evergreen with 26 points.
