EUGENE, Ore. - Despite the best efforts of Northwest Christian the Eastern Oregon Men's Basketball team ran it's win streak to 7 games by knocking off the Beacons 75-68.
In a back and forth battle for 40 minutes Eastern was led by it's senior captain Mark Carollo. The Hermiston sharp shooter scored 25 points including two huge 3 point plays down the stretch. Carollo also pulled in 8 rebounds.
Paul Carollo scored 10 points and finished with 7 rebounds while Neil Fryer and Kyle Janke tallied 12 and 11 respectively.
Eastern faces a big week of games at home. Tuesday night the Mounties host College of Idaho before facing Evergreen and Northwest University in Quinn. Game times are set for 7:30pm.
The 6th ranked Eastern Oregon Men await the new national rankings which will be released on Wednesday, January 9. Since the last ranking was released on December 12, three teams in the top five have fell.
On December 15, number three, Walsh of Ohio lost at the College of Wooster, 88-89. On December 18, Evangel of Missouri, ranked number five, fell at Southwest Baptist 63-81. And, on January 2, fourth ranked Embry Riddle of Florida fell at home to Malone (OH), 83-86.
