Mountaineer Football Program Gets Involved

LA GRANDE, Ore. - "Our football program is going to get involved with this community." These are the words of recently promoted Head Football Coach, Tim Camp.
The team plans to have several community projects going at all times. Coach Camp has divided the team into groups by class. The Freshman, Sophomores, Junior and Seniors will each have their own community outreach project as well as the coaching staff.
It all started this Winter when the Mountie Football players and coaches started the "Reading Buddies" program. Each week 10-12 different players go to area elementary schools to promote reading.
Coach Camp sees it as a win-win situation, "I think that we are bonding with some of these young
children. I do not know who enjoys it more, the children at the schools or our student-athletes from EOU.
The Spring term 08' reading schedule is as follows:
Greenwood Elementary
Every Wednesday from 8:30-9:30am
Central Elementary
Every Friday from 1:15 - 2:15pm
Grande Ronde Academy
April 4th, 18th and 25th from 10:30-11:30.
