The Mountaineer Women’s Basketball Team knew they were in for a challenge when they stepped on the floor to face the 10th-ranked Warriors of Lewis-Clark State. For the first few minutes of the game they were up for that challenge according to Head Coach Anji Weisenfluh, “They played hard for the first eight minutes but lost focus until the last eight minutes of the game. If you play like that against a good team you get blown out and that’s what happened.”
Eastern lost the game 75-52 in their worst offensive showing of this young season. Only junior wing Breana Olson scored in double figures with 13. No other Mountaineer scored more than 5. The 52 points on 40% shooting were both season lows. The Warriors were paced by their 6’3 All-American Post Ashley Baker who had 23 points and added 6 rebounds.
The Mounties will look to bounce back next weekend when they will face Willamette and Westminster in the Lady “Yote” Classic hosted by Alberson’s College. Game times are 5:00pm MT against Willamette on Friday, November 24th and 3:00pm MT versus Westminster Saturday, November 25th.
