CALDWELL, Idaho - The Eastern Oregon men's basketball team fell for the first time this season in game one of the College of Idaho Golden Rule shootout to Westminster, 71-88.
EOU shot a dismal nine percent from behind the arc. well below their 42 percent average on the season. The Mountaineers made one of their 11 three-point shots, compared to the Griffins 44 percent from the perimeter.
Westminster's Danny Stosich had a game-high 23 points. 13 of his points came from the free-throw line. Blair Prowse added 19 points shooting five for six behind the arc, while Nate Sanchez and Danny Reeder each scored 17 points.
Mark Carollo led the Mountaineers with 19 points, while brother Paul Carollo had his second double double of the season with 12 points and ten rebounds. Kyle Janke came off the bench to add 17 points for Eastern.
Westminster hit 12 of their 18 second half shots and made 23 of their 27 free throws in the game.
EOU (5-1) will face Willamette University (1-0) Saturday night in game three of the Golden Rule Shootout. The Bearcats beat host the College of Idaho, 72-63. Last season, Willamette edged Eastern in the Shootout, 84-81.
