Fair Well At Division I Chile Pepper Invite

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Mountaineer
men proved to be worthy opponents for a forty-team field filled with
NCAA Division I talent at this year's University of Arkansas Chile
Pepper Festival.
Eastern's Tim Riley was the top
Mountaineer runner on the expanded 10k course, finishing in a strong
30th position with a time of 30 minutes, 47.20 seconds.
Mountaineers finishing in the top-100
of the 262 runner field were Alex McGladrey in 42nd spot (30:59.12)
and Michael Greenman in 96th (32:08.23).
Other Eastern Oregon runners scoring in
the event were Ian Schroeder in 140th (33:00.13) and freshman Samuel
Wambugu in 162nd (33:22.08).
The final two Mountaineer runners in
the race displacing other runners were Nick Fikes and Josh Ego.
Fikes ended the 10,000 meter course in 34 minutes, 13.73 seconds,
which was good for 188th place. Ego finished in 203rd with a time
of 34 minutes, 48.19 seconds.
The Mountaineers will now prepare for
the Lewis-Clark State College Open next weekend in Lewiston,
Idaho.
The team had originally scheduled to travel to Ontario
for a meet at Treasure Valley Community College, but opted to race
against a field full of NAIA ranked teams in preparation of November
8th's NAIA Region I/Cascade Conference Championships in Vancouver,
B.C.
