LA GRANDE, Ore. -
After a very good win at a very hard place to win, the NAIA coaches
poll did not reward the Eastern Oregon University women's basketball program.
The pollsters kept the
Mountaineers (19-2, 13-1, 1st CCC), who have won 12 straight, 20th
overall in the NAIA Division II poll.
No. 1 Mary (N.D.)
tumbled to #4 with a loss at Valley City College (N.D.) and previously
unranked Dominican University (Calif.) soared over the Mountaineers to
#19 with a win at then-ranked #4 Holy Names (Calif.). Holy Names
dropped to #8 in this week's poll.
The 73-62 win over
Albertson at the J.A. Albertson Activities Center was EOU's fourth
straight overall over the Lady Coyotes and the fifth out of the last
six meetings.
Eastern Oregon can
wrap up their second Cascade Collegiate Conference title in the last
three years with a win over Oregon Tech (17-8, 11-4, 2nd CCC) Friday
in Klamath Falls.
The Mountaineers can
also win the regular season title with one win in their four games,
coupled with an Oregon Tech loss and a Northwest loss.
Saturday's game will
take EOU over the Cascade Mountains to Ashland to face the Southern
Oregon Raiders (7-15, 6-9, 8th CCC).
Both games will be
broadcast on the internet, along with live game stats. Links can
be found at www.eou.edu/athletics
beginning Thursday around 5 p.m.
