Eastern wins 12th straight game for best start ever at 19-2

CALDWELL, Idaho – Eastern Oregon placed
four players in double-figures, as the Mountaineers led from wire to
wire, defeating Albertson College, 73-62.
The win was the 12th straight for the
NAIA's 20th-ranked team, and fourth straight over Albertson College.
The win also secures a 1st-round home game during the Cascade
Collegiate Conference play-offs on Tuesday, February 24.
Jamie Jo Cant scored a game-high
19 points, while backcourt mate Tricia Haddock scored 15 to
pace the Mountaineers at the J.A. Albertson Activities Complex.
Eastern Oregon (19-2, 13-1 CCC) forced
Albertson in 21 turnovers that led to 23 Mountaineer points. A
12-0 first-half run, set the tone for most of the game.
Starters Christy Smith and
Candice Davis were the other Eastern Oregon players scoring
double-figures. Davis had 11 points and Smith ended the evening
with 10.
Eastern's final starter, Cory Nelson,
ended with just 2 points, but led the team with 8 rebounds.
Michelle Kinley and Brye
Quatre each had fine nights off the bench. Kinley finished
up with 8 point and 6 boards; Quatre shot 3-of-4 from the field and
ended with 6 points.
Eastern Oregon this very important
Cascade Collegiate Conference contest, 37-22, at the intermission and
by as much 22 points.
Eastern Oregon could very well punch
their ticket to Sioux City, Iowa, with a win next Friday at Oregon
Tech in Klamath Falls. Thanks to a win by Warner Pacific over
the Owls on Friday night, Eastern Oregon lead the Owls by 2 and a half
games with four to play. Oregon Tech was playing at Cascade
College tonight and no score was available as of the time of this
writing.
