After a very good 3-0 week that began with an overtime 74-71 win at Western Baptist and ended with a 71-54 rout of #24 Oregon Tech at home, the Mountaineers have found themselves all alone atop the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings.

Eastern must now hit the road for three straight; two over the weekend in the Puget Sound area, then next Tuesday at Concordia.

The trifecta of wins last week extended the Mountaineer's current win streak to six games, including their last five on the road and 8 of their last 10 away from Quinn Coliseum.  Eastern Oregon has won 10 of their last 11 in the friendly confines.

In fact, the Mountaineer's last loss came at the hands (and feet) of one of this weekend's opponents... Northwest College.

After a weekend loss to Evergreen, the Eagles rebounded Tuesday night with a win over Warner Pacific.  The win over Warner Pacific inched Northwest to one-half game behind Eastern Oregon, and tied with the Mountaineers in win column with seven victories.

The 77 points EOU gave up in the December loss to Northwest has been the second most scored on EOU all season; next to the 78 points to UC-Santa Cruz in the Mountaineer's 93-78 comeback victory at Menlo.

During this six-game win streak, Eastern has held their opponents to just 38% shooting and 57 point per game.  Eastern, on the other hand, has scored at a 67 point per game clip.

Saturday night, the Mountaineer will wrap up the weekend jaunt to the greater Seattle area, with a match up with The Evergreen State College.

EOU currently holds a nine-game win streak over the Geoducks, with their last loss dating back to the 1998-99 season.  In fact, the Geoducks have defeated Eastern just once in 11 meetings.

Historical Note

History was made Saturday night, when 5-4 point guard Tricia Haddock, secured her name in Mountaineer school history, when she supplanted head coach Anji Weissenfluh as the all-time assist maker.  Haddock found Candice Davis under the hoop on an inbounds play for her record breaking 428th career assist.

Haddock currently owns the all-time three-point field goals made and attempted records.

13-2 Not Good Enough?

The 13-2 Mountaineer's are off to their best start since the 14-1 beginnings of the 2000-01 club.  For its effort, Eastern Oregon was finally recognized by the NAIA Division II raters by garnering 21 points, but fell short of the NAIA's top-25 list.
