Mountaineers Comeback again; Defeat Oaks, 72-63

ATHERTON, Calif. - For the second night in row, Eastern Oregon (3-0) used a second-half comeback to win their third game in a row to start the 2003-04 season, 72-63, over Menlo College at the Lady Oaks Invitational.

Eastern scored 65 points in the second half to rally from 18 points down against the University of California-Santa Cruz the previous night.

The Mountaineers trailed Menlo by one at the half, 32-31, then outscored the Lady Oaks 41-31 in the final stanza for the victory.

Jamie Jo Cant led Eastern Oregon with 18 points, on 6-of-10 shooting from the floor and 4-of-4 shooting from the line.

Christie Weaver and Tricia Haddock also scored in double-figures with 15 and 14 points, respectively.

Michelle Kinley, who leading the team in scoring coming into the game with an 18.5 point per game average, was held to just 7 points in 25 minutes.

The Mountaineers will prepare for another tournament, as they travel to Walla Walla next weekend to participate in the Whitman College Wildhorse Resort Classic.  EOU will face host Whitman College on Friday at 5 PM, then meet up with Walla Walla College on Saturday at 4 PM.
