LA
GRANDE, Ore. - In its first two-sport signee, Eastern Oregon University's
head volleyball coach Ryan Platt, in tandem with head women's
basketball coach Anji Weissenfluh, have announced the signing of
Joseph's Anna Yost to Mountaineer Letters of Intent to play volleyball
and basketball beginning in 2004.
Yost,
a six-foot post, will fit nicely with returning posts Candice Davis
(Jr., Echo, Ore.) and Sarah Smith (Sr., Bellingham, Wash.).
"Anna
is great local player that will be a great addition to the team,"
said Weissenfluh.
During
the 2003-04 basketball season, Yost was named Honorable Mention OSAA
All-State and 1st Team All-Wapiti League. She also
participated as a member of the East squad in the East-West All-Star
Series.
During her senior season, Yost averaged
14.7 points and 10.2 rebounds per game, while shooting 42% from the
floor.
Last fall, Anna dominated play the
middle of the Joseph lineup, averaging 9.5 kills and and just under
two blocks per game.
"Anna comes from a great
community, family, and program and we are very happy to add her to our
roster," said Platt. "Anna will give us much
needed height and athleticism at the middle blocker position."
Last fall, Anna was recognized for her
performance during her senior year of volleyball being named 2nd Team
All-Wapiti League performer.
