Lose To Knights; Host T-Birds in Finale

LA GRANDE - Eastern Oregon's volleyball team
battled all night long, but could answer the outside attack of Warner
Pacific (9-17, 4-13), as the Mountaineers dropped their eighth
straight match, 3-1 (26-30,
30-22, 30-25, 23-30) this evening.
Kaki McLean and Brina Fritsche,
led all Mountaineers with 14 kills, with .227 and .312 hitting
percentages, respectively.
McLean led a trio of EOU players on
defense with a match-high 20 digs. Rhianna Stafford and Tara
Daly each chipped in with 10 digs each.
Warner Pacific's Joel'ene Bogle and
Michelle Allen led the match with 17 kills each. They also
led a quintet of Lady Knights with double-digit digs. Allen led
the team with 18 digs, while Bogle followed with 17.
Eastern Oregon (2-23, 1-16) will
attempt to end the 2003 season on a winning note Saturday against
Cascade in the Mountaineer's season ending match.
Before the Cascade match, Eastern
Oregon University athletic department will honor seniors Rhianna
Stafford and Misty Jenkin for the contribution to the
volleyball program. There will also be a special presentation to
redshirt junior Jamie Russell, who earlier this week announced
her retirement for collegiate volleyball due to a chronic injury.
