LA GRANDE - Saturday night, a taller
Western Baptist team, hit the ball with ease, as the Warriors hit the
ball at an incredible .368, including 57 kills, in route to a 3-0
(30-23, 30-18, 30-24) over an injury riddled Mountaineer team.
Eastern Oregon battled all night long,
but without the services of Jamie Russell and Misty Jenkin, the
Mountaineers just could not match up with the taller frontline of the
Warriors. Megan Shimamoto made the return to defensive
libero, but it was not enough.
Kaki McLean ended the evening
with a team high 17 kills on 45 swings, finishing the night with a
.311 hitting percentage. Jana Brotherton was the only
other Mountaineer with double-digit kills with 10 and a .207 hitting
percentage. All other Mountaineer ended hitting in negative
territory.
Sarelle Parrish and Kim Marr
led the team in digs with eight apiece.
Western Baptist's Liz Howe finished
with a match-high 18 kills, 15 digs and five blocks.
Eastern will play their final three
road games of the year; going to Albertson on Tuesday, and Evergreen
and Northwest over the weekend.
