The Mountaineer
spikers return home in hopes of ending a three-match losing skid.
Eastern will face
perennial powerhouses Concordia and Western Baptist in Quinn Coliseum
this weekend.
Concordia (9-10, 9-4
CCC) got off to a terrible start, going 1-6 in their pre-season, but
have rebounded nicely during the conference season.
The Cavaliers defeated
Eastern Oregon, 3-1 in the first meeting between the teams in Portland
back on September 20. In that match, Misty Jenkin led the
Mountaineer with 12 kills and a .310 hitting percentage. Eastern
knocked down 16 total blocks against Concordia, including a
season-high tying six from Jana Brotherton.
On Saturday, Eastern
will entertain the Lady Warriors of Western Baptist College.
The fourth-place
Warriors have swept Eastern in both of their meeting this
season. On September 6, Western Baptist beat the Mountaineers
3-0 (30-13, 30-17, 30-16) in the last match of the Willamette
Invitational, then defeated EOU again 13 days later in Salem by the
same score of 3-0 (30-14, 30-28, 30-15).
Both matches this
weekend will
begin at 7 PM. Live statistics for both matches
will be available at http://www.eou.edu/athletic/livestats/vb/xlive.htm.
