COLLEGE PLACE,
Wash. – Three Mountaineer
pitchers allowed Walla Walla College just five hits and just a
single run as Eastern Oregon took two games, 4-0 and 8-1 from the
host team in non-conference action tonight.
In the first game, Shannon Rasmussen
shutout the Wolves on just two hits, while striking out two.
She coaxed Walla Walla into 10 groundouts and eight flyouts.
The shutout was Rasmussen's sixth of
the year, and her performance lowered her ERA to 1.68.
Beth Hull went 3-for-3 in the game
with two runs batted in and a run scored. Nicole Landstrom also had
a multi-hit game in a 2-for-3 display with an RBI and run scored.
The Mountaineers had 10 hits in the
contest, including doubles by Hull and Casi Reisenauer.
In game two, Kalli McGilley got the
start and pitched four strong innings to her third win of the
season. In her four innings, McGilley gave up just two hits
and an unearned run, while striking out four. Lisa Fox made
her fifth appearance of the season in relief of McGilley and picked
up her first save as a Mountaineer with three effective innings of
work. She allowed the Wolves just a hit, a walk and struck out
five.
Eastern's eleven-hit attack was led
by two hits each for McGilley, Tonilynn Reardon, and Heather
Tandberg. Reardon picked up two RBIs, while Casi Reisenauer cashed
in with two runs batted in on a bases-loaded double.
The second-place Eastern Oregon
Mountaineers will return to Cascade Collegiate Conference when they
travel to Albertson on Saturday to face the Coyotes in a
doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. MST.
