The Certificate for Spanish for Healthcare Professionals does not constitute professional training in and of itself, i.e., it does not provide students with a series of skills needed in a specific profession.

However, it provides additional qualifications—basic skills in a foreign language- needed in the medical industry, which is faced with a growing Hispanic population.   The health care industry urgently needs staff that has at least essential proficiency in Spanish.  Anyone planning to seek a job in this industry will have better chances of being successful than an applicant who speaks English exclusively.

Among the professions in the health care industry are nurses, doctors, office assistants and specialists, physical therapists, massage therapists, dentists, dental assistants, dental hygiene specialists, radiologists, to name just a few.
