Call for Artists for 2013-14 and 2014-15 Exhibition Seasons
The Nightingale Gallery of Eastern Oregon University is reviewing artwork in all media for solo, 2 person and curated group exhibitions for the January 2013-February 2015 schedule. This call-for-entries is open to all established or emerging artists who are 21 years old or older. Proposals must demonstrate both a strong conceptual and formal grounding.
Deadline
Deadline for submission is October 4, 2010. This is not a postmark deadline.
Submission Details
Each submission must include: an artist resume(s)/CV, artist statement(s), 15-20 still image work samples OR 2-3 two-minute segments of video (or appropriate combination of images, and video), work sample list, application fee and SASE.
Incomplete or inaccurately assembled submissions will not be considered. If no SASE is included, notifications of acceptance or rejection will be sent via email and submission materials will not be returned. Please update your contact information if anything changes before you receive notification.

What to send via Mail
A hardcopies of the resume/CV, statement and work sample list along with the application fee and one CD that includes work samples, and digital files of the work sample list, artist/statement and resume/CV. All materials should be mailed to the Nightingale Gallery to arrive on or before the posted deadline.
What to include on the CD
Work samples, a work sample list, artist statement and resume/ C.V. should be submitted on one CD-R. All text documents should be in PDF or MS Word format. RTF, TXT, and others will not be accepted. Name each file according to the following format where "artistslastname" is the last name of the artist or name of the artist collective:
All filenames should be in lowercase with no spaces.
Artist Statement
Each submission should include an artist statement succinctly describing the artist's work or proposed project.
Resume/CV
Include a resume/ CV. listing the artist’s contact information (email, phone, mailing address) education, significant exhibitions, awards, collections & bibliography.
Work Samples
Work samples should have been completed in the last two years. All submitted materials (CDs and DVDs) should be clearly labeled with the artist's name and contact information. Curatorial proposals should include work samples from artists in the proposed exhibition.

Images: 15-20 digital images should be submitted in JPG format, 72 dpi, no larger than 1MB each, burned to a CD. No DVDs or CD-RWs of still images will be accepted. Please do not submit images in PDF, Flash, PowerPoint, or Kodak picture format. Please label all images in the following format: number_artistslastname_artistfirstname.jpg where number is in a two-digit format and refers to the order in which you wish the image to appear. All text should be lowercase with no spaces. Examples would look like this:

Make sure all CDs are readable on both Mac & PC platforms.

Video: Video should be edited to no longer than 2 minute excerpts. Video should be submitted on CD or DVD as Quicktime files whose width is no larger than 720px and file size is no larger than 150MB. Please only submit video art, or video documentation of an art piece that requires video to be fully experienced. Do not send video walk-throughs of static exhibitions or video slide shows.

Include a work sample list that corresponds to the submitted materials, indicating file number, title, date, dimensions(HxWxD)/duration, media and short explanatory note (if applicable) for each piece.
Submission Fee
A non-refundable submission fee of $10, payable to Nightingale Gallery, is charged to cover handling and processing of submissions. The fee must be submitted in the form of personal check or money order.
Submission Evaluation
Submissions are evaluated by the director of the Nightingale Gallery in conjunction with the EOU exhibitions committee. Do to the generally high volume of submissions Please allow at least 4 months from submission deadline for review of your materials. Artists will be notified via email as soon as possible after the review on the status of their proposal. Please do not call. Materials will only be returned if the artist provides a SASE.
Additional Information
A floor plan of the gallery space is available on our website. We do not require you to propose a layout nor do we suggest that your proposal should involve the entire gallery space. The plan is available for your information. Use it as you wish.
Shipping reimbursement and honoraria for lectures and workshops are handled on a case-by-case basis to be negotiated with the artist by the Nightingale Gallery. Accepted artist applicants may be in solo or group exhibitions. Curatorial proposals may or may not be accepted as a whole, but may be whittled down or augmented in cooperation with the proposing artist and the curator.
