Academic Probation

DEFINITION:

Students who have completed two or more terms at EOU and who have a cumulative GPA below 2.000 will be placed on Academic Probation.

GENERAL:

A probationary hold will be administered to the student's account until he or she meets with their advisor. This hold prevents the student from registering, paying fees, and adding/dropping courses.

Students on Academic Probation are contacted at the end of each term via e-mail notification.

Advisors will be notified at the end of each term of those students on probation. Students who attain a term and a cumulative GPA of 2.000 or better will be removed from Academic Probation and placed on Good Standing.

ON CAMPUS STUDENT Procedures:

On-campus students are required to complete the on-campus version of the College Success Assessment and meet with their advisor to discuss their academic standing. The focus of the conversation will be the completed assessment and strategies for success to include a review of course registration for the upcoming term.  Once the student has met with their advisor the hold is removed from the students account.

DISTANCE STUDENT Procedures:

Distance students on probation complete the distance version of the College Success Assessment, mail or fax the document to their distance advisor and then arrange a phone call with that advisor. The focus of the conversation will be the completed assessment and strategies for success to include a review of course registration for the upcoming term. The distance advisor will remove the hold once this conversation has occurred.
