Academic Advising

ON CAMPUS New Freshmen or Transfer Students:

 If you haven’t registered for fall term courses, attend our “Last Chance Advising Day” which is part of ORIENTATION on Wednesday, September 24. Check in at 9 a.m. that morning at the Information Desk in the Hoke Union Building. Look for the Advising table nearby.

 

1) Because we require that all new students take the ACCUPLACER exams prior to advising and class registration, unless you have already taken a college level writing and math course.  If you haven’t taken your placement exams for writing or math, call Travis Paulson at 1-800-544-2195 to schedule them.  Accuplacer exams may be scheduled until 3 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23 or from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 24.  These exams may take up to two hours.

 

2) We’ll have information about that day’s Advising Schedule and we’ll give a name of the academic adviser that you’ll meet with later that day. (You’ll need to go to that adviser’s office to sign up for an appointment.) 

 

At 1 p.m. you will participate in an advising overview in the Hoke Union Building, get your advising file, and then go to your advising appointment between 2 and 5 p.m.
