Some of our courses are delivered using a web browser. Please refer to our descriptions of delivery options for a full explanation. - I'm comfortable using a word processing program such as Microsoft
Word, Microsoft Works, or WordPerfect.
Depending on the course selected (for example, English composition), requirements may involve extensive use of a word processing program. Check the specific course syllabus requirements or contact the instructor to find out if more advanced skills are needed. - I can use more than one program at a time or view more than
one web page at a time.
Some online courses may displays content in a new browser window. It also may be useful to have a word processing program open while working in the course software to copy and paste writing assignments. - I can send an e-mail message with an attachment.
Some course assignments are electronically submitted via e-mail and are automatically posted to the Assignment and Test Tracking System. Assignments submitted this way retain most of the original formatting. - I can cut/copy and paste text.
You may wish to type the text in a word processing program and then copy it into another program. Typing in a word processing program allows you to utilize features such as spell check and thesaurus, as well as to complete much of your work off-line freeing your phone line and reducing connection charges when sending a document electronically. - I can download and install a computer program or plug-in.
Some courses offer online resources that may require a free browser plug-ins. A link to the most common plug-ins we use are on provided in our Computer Requirements section for both PC Windows and Mac platforms. - I am comfortable learning a new computer program.
Success in an online course depends upon learning to use the course software. EOU's faculty and staff are committed to helping you become familiar with the Blackboard software program. - I am comfortable using online Help or a manual to solve problems
and answer questions.
The most successful online learners are independent and proactive about their education. Consulting an online tutorial, printed instructions, and/or the software manual is indicative of these qualities. Most questions about using the course software will be answered by these sources. If you do get stuck, assistance is available from EOU's faculty and staff.
