General Description of the Position:

Supervises the maintenance and operation of all electronic services and automated systems in the library, which includes a 20 multi-type library cooperative utilizing the Innovative Interfaces system and a Unix-based CD-ROM search system; provides bibliographic instruction and academic support for off-campus students and campus community, includes library orientation, utilization of electronic resources and Web technology; some travel involved; provides direct supervision to two library staff; training of library staff in effective use of electronic resources and new technology; serves at reference desk in assisting students, staff, faculty and town patrons, includes some evening and weekend hours. The position also is responsible for collection development in one or more areas of competence. Reports to Library Director.

MLS from an ALA-accredited program is required; expertise in the use of electronic resources, Internet access, technology instruction and microcomputer hardware/software technology; demonstrated analytical, organizational, planning, and leadership skills; excellent oral and written communication skills. Working knowledge in UNIX, Oracle and multi-platform operating systems is desirable.
