As of February 1, 2010 abatement work is complete and bulk demolition associated with the Main Floor and Basement is 90% complete. Remaining demolition includes removal of existing concrete walls (along Grid lines 4 and 5) that flank the old Registrar’s Office on the east and west, to form the expanded Welcome Center.
With the removal of partitions, plaster, & ceilings, the design team, led by SERA Architects, is evaluating the newly uncovered existing building components and utilities to coordinate with the new seismic shear walls, existing structural elements, and new floor plan.
A GMP “Guaranteed Maximum Price” contract amendment with Fortis Construction, Inc. was executed on February 1, 2010. Fortis Construction is the Construction Manager / General Contractor for the project.
A preconstruction meeting was held on February 2, 2010 that included primary subcontractors. The meeting included discussion of: Building and Site Historical elements to be preserved and protected throughout the project; Project Safety; and Project LEED Objectives and Requirements. The project is on track for LEED Gold certification.
This week (Week of February 8th) Fortis will continue detail demolition around existing window casings and doors. The contractor will continue drilling for seismic anchors along the building, perimeter wall. On going work includes modifications and re-routing of existing electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems. Fortis will also be insulating steam lines in the crawl space this week.

Construction Closure Schedule - December 4, 2009 - Marketing, Development & Public Affairs
Due to Inlow Hall construction, the building will need to close at 6 p.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2009 and remain closed to the public and employees until 6 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2009. During this time, work taking place throughout the building including demolition and asbestos abatement, presents safety issues that limit access to the facility. Information Technology Move - Aug 20, 2009 - Paul Rowan
Greetings,
As a summary of our meeting today with SERA I wanted to confirm our discussion, assuming things go according to plan:
All of IT will move to Ackerman with the Sept. 8, 9 move. There was a misunderstanding concerning the keeping the Distance Education room IH013 until December, access and noise and we have found an alternate for Distance Education classes in Ackerman 105.
At the end of Phase 1 in Aug. of 2010 JJ Helten and his ESS staff will remain in Ackerman 207. The IS programming group will move to the IH 206 suite area. The balance of IT will move back to the western part of the building to their original offices, with Audio/Visual moving into IH 011, which is also in the western part of the building.
Please let me know of any alterations or corrections.
Thanks,
Paul

Inlow Hall Renovation Aug 3, 2009 - Virginia Key
Greetings,
As many of you may already be aware, plans for the renovation of Inlow Hall are coming together. The project team is on a very tight schedule to have the construction complete by Fall 2010 for the opening of the 2010-2011 academic year. To achieve this aggressive schedule, we are going to attempt to relocate all Inlow first floor occupants and functions to other EOU space by the end of August 2009. We are exploring many options to achieve this and ask for your patience and flexibility as we develop and implement a plan.
Considerations being discussed include temporarily locating some functions on the second floor of Inlow and the possible use of other spaces such as Hunt and Ackerman for temporary space.
SERA Architects will have staff in Inlow this week beginning Tuesday to facilitate the move in an effort to make the move as painless and efficient as possible.
Please don't hesitate to let me or SERA know if you have comments, suggestions and/or concerns. You can contact SERA's Dawn Viar, Associate IIDA, LEED(r) AP interior designer at dawnv@serapdx.com or face-to-face while here this week.
As decisions are made, we will make follow-up announcements. Right now, we are just exploring options.
Sincerely,
Virginia Key
