No administrative unit of Eastern Oregon University shall sponsor, conduct or arrange any religious exercise or observance, or any activity or program of a devotional nature, or one which promotes or favors the beliefs and practices of any one or several religious faiths, or non-faith. Eastern will always be sensitive to and respect the variety and private nature of the beliefs and feelings of each student, staff member, and faculty member relative to religious faiths. However, each activity or program should be clearly consistent with and sensitive to the intent of the regulation concerning religious activities.
Recognized student organizations may use University facilities for a religious service (which may include a baccalaureate service) if: (a) attendance is voluntary and (b) the rental and other charges are paid in accordance with the fixed schedule of charges.
The policy governing public use of facilities by religious organizations is located in "Facilities Use."
Eastern Oregon University as an institution will not promote sectarian beliefs through such activities as display of religious symbols or distribution of religious materials on its premises. This policy does not, however, pertain to the promotion of programs sponsored by recognized student organizations. Further, this policy does not apply to the Library collection, use of religious materials in instruction, or the sale of religious materials in the University Bookstore.
